the return of spring racing

Well it was another fab weekend here, just right for NASCAR to return, and me return to it. After having to miss last fall's races due to the accident, I was chomping at the bit to be there live. As I still have a ways to go before the ankle is back to perfect, I decided to only go out for Friday night's Nationwide race. It was a great race, and my hat is off to Kyle Busch for showing his stuff, racing back after a penalty to take the checkered flag. Also thanks to my friend Randy for letting me kick back at his trailer on the property while the traffic thinned. The food, drinks, and friendship were much appreciated!

Then Sunday, as I had the extra day off, I went down early in the morn to watch the beginning of an event called the Copperstate 1000. There were some 90 or so vintage cars (1973 or earlier) that their proud owners had brought to show off before heading out on this road rally. Incredible examples of cars that could be in a museum, but their owners use them for their intended purpose - to drive! They filled the local baseball stadium grounds for all to see, and then one by one, were announced at they headed out on the rally. Truly a very cool sight to see for any car guy (or gal). You can check out the rally info on this link:

After that, it was off to my local Mustang club meeting, and then home to ice & recuperate the ankle for the work week.
