Well as usual, I end the summer with a trip back to Lake of the Ozarks to enjoy the cooling weather and use the boat for a little fun. The weather is generally the best of the season, and this year was no exception. The first night there and the last night there, huge rainstorms swept through the area, but that simply cooled things off nicely. The rest of the time was great weather to be on the water - highs in the 80s and low in the 60s! Woo Woo!
Most of the time was spent hanging with friends and family, and then nightime gave way to a little partying at any of the the bars on the water. Not a bad way to spend a week!
Later in the month, I had some extra time off, so I came back to the Lake to watch the Offshore Super Series boat races. This was only the second year for this, but man, what a sight! The temperatures were once again perfect - highs in thd 80s/lows about 60 - and plenty of sunshine. It is really cool that they allow you to anchor your boat only 100 feet or so from the edge of the race circuit. That equalled 2 days of hanging in the sun and water (with some adult libations, of course!) I even ran into several formere co-workers, and we were able to spend Saturday night at a local restaurant surprising and catching up with many of them. As fall and winter are quicly approaching in the Midwest, this was a last great fling at the Lake. Following are several pictures of the racing and general merriment that weekend.
